Gareth Edwards plays for Tesco Golf
Date 08 September 2011
Venue The Grove
Sportingclass surpass expectations again at the Tesco Estates & Acquisitions Charity Golf Day - played at The Grove on the 8th September.
One of the qualifying rounds for The Brewin Dolphin Industry Invitational, The Tesco Estates and Acquisitions Charity Golf Day - in association with Spenhill - was unanimously proclaimed a resounding success. 22 teams participated in the event from a variety of different companies including Walsh Associates, Willmott Dixon, Savills and Tesco and players included rugby personalities Zinzan Brooke, Ben Sturnham, Tim Stimpson and Welsh rugby legend Gareth Edwards. The golf tournament, designed to be a social networking day is splashed with extra entertainments including on-course beer stations, cocktail bar, competitions for nearest the pin, longest drive, beat the Pro and hole in one-prizes included BA Club World flights, Cleveland Golf weekend bags, rucksacks and holdalls. All teams had their eye on the first prize which was a place for the winning team at the finals at The Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain in Arizona. The well-deserved winners were The Northold Group who won by 5 shots - the biggest ever margin in a qualifying round this year. The golf competition finished with drinks and a sit-down three-course meal with entertainment from Elegant Entertainment - a team of three opera singers who double as waiting staff and proved extremely amusing and popular with the guests. Former England rugby international Chris Sheasby led a charity auction and an entertaining Q & A with Gareth Edwards and Tim Stimpson. The auction, in aid of the Alzheimer's Society, raised over £30k and thanks go out to all that contributed to this achievement. Stephen Rigby, from Tesco commented on the day "I thought it was a cracking event, everything was perfectly organised, and I thoroughly enjoyed it ...The evening was brilliant, the singers were a great touch, and the compare was second to none. Congratulations to the Sportingclass team for organising such a fantastic day."

AT&T Williams golf day raises £53k Golf
Date 06 July 2011
Venue Brocket Hall
Rubens Barrichello part of the AT&T Williams Golf Challenge that raised 53k for Charity
The AT&T Williams Golf Challenge at Brocket Hall was a resounding success.

Managed by Sportingclass together with Williams F1 and AT&T and counting as one of the qualifying rounds for the Brewin Dolphin Industry Invitational - this golf day even hit the heights of 'Twitter banter' between Ronnie Irani and Chris Evans.

The day, hosted by Rubens Barrichello, saw helicopters flying guests in and out whilst the superb 18 hole Championship course showcased a huge variety of historic and current Williams F1 imagery, making the course an F1 fantasy land for all who took part. The latest Williams F1 race car adorned the first tee and another three historic cars going back through the years shone brightly outside the front of Brocket Hall - including the actual car that helped crown Nigel Mansell the Formula One World Champion in 1992.
Aside from the popular cocktail bar supplied by Mangrove, the laughter, banter, the beautiful views from the course and the luxury dinner inside Brocket Hall - there was an underlying serious note which culminated in the day raising a huge £53,000 pounds for Cancer Research UK and the SIA, which makes golf days like this every bit worthwhile.

A golf Open it was not - but the standard of golf was exceptional - spurred on by the incentive of the magnificent winner's trophy and the top prize of a place to the Brewin Dolphin Industry Invitational final in Arizona - it was an extremely tight contest resulting in a tie with the winners only being announced after a count-back. Sadly no one managed to win the hole on one prize of a new Jaguar XJ - but maybe that will be won in one of the other qualifying rounds.
Martin Gregory, team captain of the unfortunate runners up commented "I was desperate to win! I was lucky enough to go to the finals last year in Jamaica and now I know what an amazing trip it is I am determined to win myself a place to the finals in Arizona. Today was a fantastic day - well done Sportingclass - you have surpassed yourselves yet again! "

Remaining qualifying rounds will be played throughout July, August and September and more details of these events can be found on the Sportingclass website www.sportingclass.com

Brewin Dolphin secure naming rights to The Sportingclass Golf Invitational 2011 Golf
Date 06 July 2011
Client Bewin Dolphin
Brewin Dolphin secure naming rights to the successful Sportingclass Golf Industry Invitational
Brewin Dolphin will join The Ritz-Carlton, British Airways, Cleveland Golf, Galvin Green and MPI to head up the sponsorship of the hugely successful Sportingclass Industry Invitational, an industry specific golf tournament which encompasses 9 events in the UK and a final at The Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain in Arizona.

The Tournament will now be known as The Brewin Dolphin Industry Invitational for the next 3 years and will see Brewin Dolphin golf teams in each qualifying round as well as at the final in Arizona.

Established by Sportingclass in 2009, the event presents businesses with an excellent opportunity to entertain, network and develop new business opportunities. Business focused, each qualifying event targets a specific industry sector and attracts some of the most high profile companies in the relevant market place. A networking brunch allows time for golfers to meet with their guests and be introduced to potential clients, before taking to the course. The relaxed environment and ability to facilitate introductions provides the ideal platform for business development. Each event completes with a social barbeque or dinner.

The winners of each qualifying round are invited to participate in the Brewin Dolphin Industry Invitational Final, which will be held at The Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain later this year.

Divisional Director of Marketing for Brewin Dolphin, Sasha Dabliz, commented on the new relationship; "We are thrilled to be working with Sportingclass and putting our name to such a well-respected golf tournament. The calibre of players attending each qualifying event will make for some very productive days on the golf course. We look forward to building relationships with all the partners involved and aim to make this Invitational an established part of the golfing and business calendar"

Brewin Dolphin is one of the UK's largest independent private client investment managers with 41 offices across the UK and Channel Islands offering a wide range of financial services to private clients, trusts, charities and pension funds to create and preserve wealth.

It is an exciting time at Sportingclass. We have been established for nearly ten years and in that time have expanded and diversified and now we are teaming up with Harvey Thorneycroft Ltd.

We have had a fantastic time working at Harlequins and I look forward to continuing our work on a contract basis over the next 3 years and into the future. But it is time to move on and continue to broaden are expertise and offerings to our clients.

The Sportingclass team have worked exceptionally hard over the last decade to forge a position as a well respected, committed and reliable partner to many businesses. We are far more than a sports hospitality provider, our success has grown from building close relationships with our clients and providing them with totally unique, corporate solutions and exclusive events. Our alliance with Harvey Thorneycroft Ltd will allow us to expand our areas of expertise to our clients and give them access to Harvey's capabilities. Both sets of clients will benefit a huge amount from this unity.

We originally established ourselves as a sports hospitality provider - specialising in rugby, but we have been far out-reaching these walls for many years. Our capabilities have stretched into event management, sports promotion, specialised high end hospitality and unique corporate events. In 2010 we have over 20 golf tournaments planned culminating in a final which takes place at the 5 star Ritz Carlton Golf and Spa resort in Jamaica; Private entertainment for clients with Williams F1 at the British Grand Prix and have orchestrated the England and Ireland legends match that enjoyed a crowd of 11,000 supporters and raised £150,000 for a selection of rugby charities.

Harvey Thorneycroft Ltd are experts in delivering content rich, strategic events on key leadership issues as well as bespoke events for their impressive client list and I am confident that we will help them as much as they will help us. Our new integrated team will have an enviable cross-section of skills and expertise, an enormous list of sports personalities to draw upon and an attractive list of clients. In short, this coalition will form a very desirable team and I am exceptionally excited about the new possibilities.
